The first cinema in Kosovo with six halls with RealD 3D technology and the new Dolby Digital Surround System 7.1 sound technology, as well as nearly 900 seats
The cinematographic distributor Constantin Film Holding GmbH was established in Austria in 1951. A second branch was established in the late 1960s as a segment of cinematographic operations. This segment included 25 traditional cinemas and cinema centers, which operated until the beginning of 1990. After a structural change, in 1993 Cineplexx Cine Operations GmbH was established, a subsidiary of Constatin Film Holding GmbH. The business took off at a time when many traditional cinemas in Austria were disappearing, and Multiplex cinemas were occupying the market. Constatin FILM responded by opening 20 cinemas and 157 large screens in Austria. In addition, traditional cinemas with almost 16 halls continued to be functional.
In 2009 Cineplexx INTERNATIONAL GmbH began to expand into neighboring countries with Austria, and the first cinema outside Austria opened in Bolzano (Italy). Cineplexx also bought a cinema in central Zagreb, laying the groundwork for successful expansion in Croatia. During the following years, 2010-2011, new cinemas opened in Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia. The latest expansion of the company has been made in Macedonia, Albania and now in Kosovo.
